We signed on the moment we learned there would be a Portland versionof Ashland’s Theater. As expensive asit seemed for 1st grade teachers, 22 years ago, it was one of our smartest and least regretted decisions! In al these years of Portland CenterStage(long since weaned away from Ashland), we’ve been disappointed by only oneplay, the wooden Greekthing 20 or so seasons back. Mostly, we are amused, challenged, and just plain dazzled by the variety and quality of PCS productions. 10 years ago,i was felled by a massive stroke. For two seasons, we gave our tickets to friends. Then, when I was strong enough, we chanced returning. I was thrilled withhow accessible the Performing Arts Center was, and the staff were so accommodating! Our new Gerding Theater is an absolute masterwork! There really are not words, as I prepare for a morning medical appointment, to say how pleased we are with the PCS’ new site. I’m happy to sit in the back in my now familar wheelchair space, and the Volunteers have beenwonderful about helping me get tothe poorly signed accessible restrooms(ahead of the frantic “I pee where I want!” dames, I mean).

I’ve been a season subscriber from years before the Gerding Theater move. PCS is better than ever now. Ragtime was the best musical I’ve seen PCS perform.

We have seen many good plays at Portland Center Stage, but two stand out as OUTSTANDING–”Ragtime” and “Crazy Enough.” Thank you for these delightful productions.

We just ordered tickets to go see Ragtime. We have never been to your theater, so we are very excited about going to it.

Your WEB site to order tickets was very user friendly, really appreciated, as so many sites are very confusing to someone new at this WEB thing.

We love what you are doing and have been season ticket holders for 2 years now. I also appreciate the wonderful customer service you provide by letting me change my ticket dates and sending my valet reminders. I do miss the free parking this year though. Please keep up the wonderful work! Thank you.

The last few years, PCS has gotten so good! I’ve been going for years, but I like it now more than ever. Keep up the good work.

We enjoyed Benjamin Franklin Unplugged and enjoyed even more Ragtime.

Portland Center Stage offers high quality theatre experience to one and all. I especially think it is wise to have discounted tickets for those who cannot afford it. I would like to see more joint partnerships with multiple cultural groups so that once a month patrons could come and watch a musical or theatrical style from the diverse population we have here in the Portland Metro area. Possibly, sell ethnic foods and drinks to “match” in the lobby, sell hand-crafted items, etc.

I have enjoyed all performances with the exception of Buckminster F and have liked the varied seating arrangements.

Sorry I do not know what you mean by ‘clicking this link’ so I can not find the survey.

I wish that you would eliminate the fees when purchasing tix. What is a single ticket service fee anyway? Isn’t it your job to sell tickets? So what am I paying a fee for? To me it is just a ripoff to garner more monies for doing NOTHING. You have created a ‘2 class society’ — subscribers and non-subscribers. I stand in line for 15 minutes while subscribers are allowed into the Studio. All subscribers do is give you money upfront and you garner interest on that money. It would seem to me that if you wanted to gain more subscribers that you would be better off trying to bend over backwards toward non subscribers to entice them to become subscribers rather than treating them as 2nd class citizens.

We haven’t been to the theater very often ever since the move to the Armory because when we did go it was on the “pay as you wish” evenings and we cannot afford $25 tickets, laying out $50 for an evening of entertainment.

Over the years, we have had a variety of conversations about how balance transparency in our ticketing fees with simplicity in ordering. Your feedback will certainly play in to our next round of conversations. In the mean time, I wanted to make you aware that we do make an effort to ensure that our printed prices and offers include the handling fee- so that the price we advertise is the price you pay- the fee gets separated out during the order process to simplify our accounting on the back end.

In regards to the subscriber/single performance buyer divide you mention, that is a question as old as the theater itself. We do work very hard to make sure the patrons who purchase tickets to individual performances have an amazing experience at the theater. After all, we want them to get inspired to join us for a full season of work and become lifelong supporters of the theater. Then, if they do make that commitment to enjoy a full season of our work, it’s important to us to reward them for that investment (not only of dollars, but of time). The early investment and deep commitment of our subscribers give us the stability and resources we need to continue to provide the highest quality work, even in difficult economic times.

The opportunity to have the first crack at great seats is one of the few rewards we can give them to thank them for that investment. Its a reward that we would love to have the opportunity to offer you, as well. From your obvious passion for the theater you look like you would be an ideal subscriber. STOP CALLING ME!! I bought one freaking ticket three years ago and now you have called my house 1000 times! No I don’t want more tickets! If there is something I am interested in I am fully capable of getting myself a ticket. I probably won’t because that would only generate MORE DAMN PHONE CALLS!
