Frank Higgins is the playwright of Black Pearl Sings!, which opens next Friday in the Ellyn Bye Studio. In this interview, Higgins describes his experience writing Black Pearl Sings! – from researching American folklore, to discovering the story that led to creating his characters, to finding an African song which would serve as one of the most powerful moments in the play.
