Join us for First Thursday on February 2 from 5 - 7 p.m. to welcome our latest group of artists to the Armory galleries. Our newest show will feature the work of David Slader, Sarah Frechette and Jason Thibodeaux. Free beer and light snacks will be provided!
On the Gallery Level: David Slader
“I am an exponent of the Vilde Chaya School of Digestive Expressionism. Vilda Chayaists believe that a painting should—indeed must—reflect the artist’s meal from the previous evening. For example, in this painting, even a casual observer will notice that for dinner the night before, I had a bowl of dolphin-safe tuna in a spicy organic coconut sauce over brown rice with a glass of cheap red wine. Less obvious, perhaps, but apparent to more astute observers, are the three double espressos that accompanied a breakfast of toasted glute-free bread.”

In the Ellyn Bye Studio Lobby: “The Crown” by Sarah Frechette and Jason Thibodeaux
“The Crown is a slick looking ring of pirates that blow into the homes of the burdened rich
and infiltrate their conscious with a wail that resembles the cry of the siren. It is enough
fervor to scare the wits out of their victims leaving them trembling.”
Jason Thibodeaux and Sarah Frechette are are currently creating string and rod
puppets for a music video for Japanther's new album “Beets, Limes and Rice.” They
have co-directed and designed multiple shows with
Night Shade that have lit up
NYC, Portland, Seattle and New Orleans. Jason is also currently painting puppets
for the feature film ParaNorman, for release in August. Sarah is touring with her
