Start your Saturday evening with live music at the Armory Cafe. Grab a cocktail and pull up a chair for Sounds.Like.Portland. You don't even need a ticket! This event is free and open to the public.
So join us Saturdays during The Imaginary Invalid, January 15 through February 5, 2011, 6:30 - 7:15pm when we will be featuring Portland singer/songwriter Michael the Blind.
New York born Michael Gerard Levasseur was raised in South Carolina and grew up all over America. Classical vocal training at a young age was the beginning of what has become a lifelong obsession with turning situations into songs. A multi-instrumentalist in the studio, Levasseur brings a pianistic and therefor percussive approach to his guitar playing in concert that can at times belie a fondness for American Primitive masters while calling to mind at the same time the recklessness of power chords and fuzz pedals. Currently residing in Portland, Levasseur has been performing and releasing music as michael the blind since 2002. Recent appearances include a benefit for North Portland nonprofit art center The Waterheater, and the 2010 PDX Pop Now festival. The newest michael the blind album: "days & days" is currently available for sale or as a free download online.
