Q: Is Cabaret really sold out?

A: Yes, yes it is.

Q: Am I doomed or is there still a way to see this stellar show?

A: Heck, yes, there is!

That’s right, Damen und Herren, for those die-hard Cabaret enthusiasts there is still a way to see the show! About fifteen minutes before the show begins all remaining tickets are on sale for ten bucks, cash only. Whether it’s your first or your eleventh time (you know who you are!), all you need is a little time to wait in line, your friend Alexander Hamilton, and maybe a glass of Cabernet from the Armory Cafe!

Throughout the day, the box officers help patrons with last minute ticket exchanges and accepts ticket donations from those who simply cannot reschedule a performance. These are the magical tickets we sell to those of you patiently waiting in the rush line! We never know how many seats we will have to sell, nor do we know where said seats will be located — it could be anywhere from two to twenty-four seats.

Portland Center Stage sells rush tickets to each and every show, not just for Cabaret. In fact, rush tickets for The Underpants are just five bucks! So if you’ve got a sense of adventure, some sweet moolah and a desire to see fantastic theatre at an even more fantastic price, I invite you to wait in the rush line… And who knows, you might even make a new friend or two while you’re at it!

How far in advance do you need to be there for rush tickets? There are two of us.

Hi Mary,

It really depends on the show. I’ve seen some folks showing up for Cabaret up to 2 hours early. There are comfortable seats to be had for as many as six or seven of these early birds right in the vicinity of the line itself. It never hurts to plan on being in the neighborhood early and check in on the line. You can get a bite in the Armory Cafe too if you like.

He’s right. If you’re trying to catch Cabaret this final weekend you’ll want to be sure to be here extra early. We were only able to get a total of 15 Rush Liners in last night to Cabaret and there were about 40 people waiting. As an alternative, we did get them into The Underpants, though, so there was still a great show to see. I’m afraid many many Portlanders have waited til the last moment to see Cabaret. We may also find people forming a line to pay full price with this one. But, if you have the time to come down and wait definitely do! Plus, the first 6 people or so get the comfort of sitting on a couch while they wait, so grab a book and come on down!

Rumor has it that A Christmas Carol is close to Sold-out status too. Any truth to this cold, wintery rumor??? And will RUSH LINES include Egg Nog for A Christmas Carol???
