Robert Alfoldi and dear friend and colleague has just been appointed the new artistic director of The Hungarian National Theatre! He is a brilliant artist and director. Chris saw his work several years ago when he attended an artistic director tour of eastern European theater in Budapest through the Trust For Mutual Understanding. Robi then came and directed his production of The Merchant of Venice at Portland Center Stage. The following summer Rose Riordan received an invitation from Robi and a plane ticket from the Hungarian Minister of Culture and spent the month in Budapest with Robi seeing all the theater Hungary has to offer. It was a wonderful experience and we made lifelong friends. Congratulations!
