First rehearsal for Crazy Enough yesterday. We read through the whole piece, and listened to the music on the newly minted CD, so that we could hear what the instrumentation will sound like.

Storm and James have written four new songs for the piece since this past Summer. One happened out of necessity when David Bowie’s management refused to give us the rights to perform Rock n Roll Suicide. But the resulting song is kind of amazing. One of Storm’s best I believe.

James Beaton (who you’ve seen perform at the piano if you’ve ever seen Storm with The Balls) wrote the music with Storm and is kind of amazing to have in the room. As calm as Storm is gregarious. But also has great ideas both for how the music can flow, and support the story – and how the story can work more effectively.

I showed the model of the set to the assembled group, and then we headed out to the scene shop on Front Avenue to tromp around on the actual set. The crew has completed everything but the paint and texture treatment, so it was extremely helpful to see the actual heights of platforms before we begin rehearsing.
