JAW Script Submission Guidelines || Casting
At this time we are not accepting unsolicited script submission for our general season consideration. If you are interesting in submitting a script for JAW: A Playwrights Festival please visit the JAW Script Submission page.
Script Submission Guidelines
Portland Center Stage accepts full-length scripts from literary agents. PCS also accepts scripts directly from writers when they are recommended by the artistic director or literary manager at a professional theater or playwright organization.
If you do not have an agent or an appropriate source who can recommend your work, you are welcome to query the theater for interest in a particular script.
Your query should include the following information:
1. A brief description of the play—not a plot summary, but an account of what the play is about.
2. A production and publication history of the play, including relevant dates, places and workshop development, if any.
3. Your résumé or list of your other works with production and publication history, and any other recognition {grants, awards, etc.} you have received for your writing.
4. A five- to ten-page excerpt from the script you wish to submit.
5. A self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your materials to be returned.
6. A self-addressed, stamped postcard if you would like acknowledgment of the script’s receipt. We will respond to your query within one month. Please note that Portland Center Stage cannot provide any comments or suggestions about work that we do not intend to produce or develop.
Response time for full submissions of scripts is three to six months.
Please send your submission or query letter to:
