We are delighted to announce that the Gerding Theater at the Armory is one of 5 buildings to receive a “Preservation in Action” Pinnacle Award from the Architectural Heritage Center/Bosco-Milligan Foundation.
The award was inaugurated as part of the organization’s 20th anniversary to spotlight the cultural, historic, and economic value of historic preservation to the Portland area. They were presented to ten winners and five “pinnacle” winners at a gala reception prior to the organization’s Riches of a City Heritage Auction on October 18th at the Governor Hotel.
The Preservation in Action Award recognizes outstanding historic preservation projects from the residential, commercial, government/institution, and neighborhood sectors. Sponsored by the Portland Development Commission; Heritage Consulting; InnerCity Properties; and Venerable Properties, the goal of the award program is to spotlight outstanding examples of effective preservation and inspire more historic preservation in the community.

-Had a significant impact on its community and served as a catalyst for further historic preservation.
-Demonstrated extraordinary authenticity or craftsmanship.
-Provided an outstanding example of creative problem-solving, adaptive re-use, persistence, or cooperation between parties.
