Oregon Business Magazine recently named the Top 100 Non-Profits to work for in Oregon, and we were pleased to learn that we were among them! From nearly 300 companies who were eligible, Portland Center Stage ranked 33, in the large non-profits category.
The nonprofit project was based on the magazine’s recognized 100 Best Companies project. More than 6,700 employees from nearly 300 nonprofits and not-for-profits organizations around the state participated, and there was no cost to enter the survey. Any organization registered with the state as a nonprofit or not-for profit group was eligible as long as it had a minimum of 10 paid (full- or part-time) Oregon employees. Employers ranging from faith-based groups to professional associations to charitable organizations participated in the survey.
The specially designed survey was launched in late April, in partnership with nonprofit support organization TACS, and was comprised of an anonymous 50-question employee survey and an independent assessment of the nonprofit employers’ workplace practices. At PCS, 46% of the staff completed the voluntary survey, and in particular gave PCS incredibly high marks for pride and belief in the organization, the organization’s support for the broader community, fairness for differing racial, gender, and sexual-orientation, and enjoyment of the work environment.
Our goal is that by maintaining such a work atmosphere, we will enhance the enjoyment of PCS for our patrons, too. Congratulations to all the non-profits who continue to do good work and to provide great workplaces for their dedicated staff.
