Ghostlight Community Conversation: Immigration

Posted 09 March 2017

Ghostlight Bealight720X376

On January 19th, The Armory, in collaboration with The Ghostlight Project, joined over 500 theaters across the country and pledged a commitment to our community. We pledged that the theater would continue to be a safe space for productive civic conversation. We're living up that that commitment with monthly community conversations, where we'll bring in experts on relevant topics, and open the mic up for you to share your story as well.

Panelists will include Kat Kelley, Director of Programs and Integration at El Programa Hispano Catolico, a service of Catholic Charities, and Stephen Manning, a founding partner of Immigrant Law Group PC and the founder and director of the Innovation Law Lab, a non-profit that combines technology and litigation to create next generation activism against the mass incarceration of refugees and immigrants.

After a brief presentation by the panelists, we'll break out into moderated small group conversations. At the end, we'll reconvene with the larger group to share our experiences.

On January 19th, dozens joined us in the Main Lobby and pledged to be a light. Join us on March 26th as we continue that commitment.

About The Ghostlight Project

We aim to activate a network of people across the country working to support vulnerable communities. This is not a substitution for protests or direct action, but rather a pledge for continued vigilance and increased advocacy. The Ghostlight Project will be a resource for theaters, arts communities, and individuals to identify and create meaningful action steps, or to continue in the social justice work already underway. More info here.
