The 2011 Tony Awards

Posted by Kinsley Suer | 13 June 2011

Did you catch The 65th Annual Tony Awards last night? It’s one of our favorite nights of the year here at Portland Center Stage. Although, come to think of it, we get pretty excited about anything that celebrates excellence in theater – and theater in general.
But the Tony Awards are the big kahuna in the theater awards universe. Presented each year by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, the Tony Awards recognize achievement in live Broadway theater.
By far, one of the highlights of last night’s ceremony was watching the cast of Anything Goes perform their title song. The show took home three Tony Awards last night, including the award for Best Musical Revival. But the best part? The show, currently running at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway, features two recent PCS alums: Linda Mugleston and Raymond J. Lee!
Linda Mugleston played Norma Desmond in this season’s opener, Sunset Boulevard.
You will also remember Raymond J. Lee, who played Chip Tolentino in last season’s closing musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
In case you missed it, here’s a clip of the cast performing the final number of the show, “Anything Goes.”
I spy Linda and Raymond!

You can read more about Linda, Ray and the rest of the cast of Anything Goes here. You can also check out Ray's candid, behind-the-scenes photo slideslow of Anything Goes for Playbill.com here!
A big congrats to Linda Mugleston and Raymond J. Lee. You guys are fantastic!
