Sounds Like Portland features a diverse mix of free music by new and established Portland artists. We're celebrating the rebooting of this pre-show live music series with Omari Jazz, an electronic Afro-futuristic artist.
About Omari Jazz
 | Omari is an electronic artist who weaves sentient poly-rhythmic chaos and contemplative ambiance to create a vivid Afro-futuristic hallucination. He creates his own beats from an amalgamation of samples and live manipulation with drum machines and audio effects, to take his listeners on a trip around the sonic universe of experimental jazz, hip hop, funk and electronica. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, and currently living in Portland, he is a fixture of the PDX beat scene and has been preparing his debut album for release some time next year. From Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour (creator of the Off-Broadway smash hit White Rabbit, Red Rabbit) comes an audacious new theatrical experiment, presented in collaboration with Boom Arts. Each night, a new, unrehearsed local performer joins the playwright on stage, while the script waits, unseen, in a sealed box... Touchingly autobiographical yet powerfully universal, NASSIM is a striking theatrical demonstration of how language can both divide and unite us.

Portland Center Stage will host Garam Garam Chai, an art exhibit by Portland-based multidisciplinary artist Yusra Siddiqui, featuring a series of hand-sewn teabag printmaking pieces that serve as a contemplation of the communal tea times shared between Desi and British culture.
