Join Theatre Diaspora for its first Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Artist Networking Event for individual artists and organizations. This in-person get-together will help us connect with each other and find other opportunities for artists who identify as AAPI. You can also sign up for information regarding our Networking Directory to connect with new friends and colleagues. Share information about your work and find out more about other local AAPI artists and organizations.

This is an AAPI affinity space. Please only register if you identify as such.  Masks will be required in public spaces.

We will also be providing a list of Black-owned businesses and organizations very near and dear to our hearts to support for Juneteenth afterwards. We are not accepting donations but would love to direct any donations to these amazing organizations.

About Theater Diaspora
About Theater Diaspora

Theatre Diaspora began as a response to the lack of AAPI visibility on Portland stages and audiences, as well as a lack of awareness and education regarding the importance of casting Asian American actors in Asian American roles and plays.

Theatre Diaspora creates a yearly season of staged readings focusing on Asian American identity and cultural issues with talkbacks and invited panel discussions after every performance. Theatre Diaspora has generated awareness of the Asian experience in all communities and helps establish Asian American theater artists and playwrights dedicated to giving Asian American theater more visibility, and to engage the public in insightful talkback discussions on cultural diversity.

Theatre Diaspora is Oregon’s only professional Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) theater company, committed to portraying authentic AAPI cultural, historical, and social perspectives to reach broad audiences. By strongly advocating through compelling performances and post-show discussions, Theatre Diaspora is bridging communities to foster inclusion, social awareness, and open conversations on race and cultural diversity — celebrating the AAPI experience.

Theatre Diaspora’s staged reading series was a project of MediaRites, an award-winning nonprofit production organization based in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to telling the stories of diverse cultures and giving voice to the unheard through the arts, education, and media projects. Since 1984, MediaRites has produced award-winning radio and film documentariesinteractive websitestheater, and outreach projects.

Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying & interrupting instances of racism & all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility (IDEA).
