September of 2006 marked the start of Portland Center Stage’s inaugural season in the Gerding Theater at the Armory. Located at 128 NW Eleventh Ave, Portland, Oregon, in the Pearl District, we’re exactly one block north of Powell’s Books, between Couch and Davis. Driving Directions
The Gerding Theater at the Armory is located at 128 NW Eleventh Ave at Davis St. The entrance is on the west side of the Armory building between Couch and Davis, on NW 11th.

I-84 from the East
Follow I-84 to I-5 North (right lane). Take I-5 N following the St. Helens exit (Exit 302B), stay in the middle lane and follow signs to I-405 South (veer left off bridge). Get in right lane and take next exit NW Everett St.(Exit 2B). Turn left onto NW Everett St.(second stop light off ramp). Turn right onto NW 11th Ave. The Gerding Theater is one block South at NW Davis on your left.
I-5 From the North
Follow I-5 South and exit at I-405S/Hwy 30W (Exit 302B). Stay in the middle lane and follow signs to I-405 South (veer left off bridge). Get in right lane and take next exit NW Everett St. (Exit 2B). Turn left onto NW Everett St.(second stop light). Turn right onto NW 11th Ave. The Gerding Theater is one block South at NW Davis on your left.
I-5 From the South
Follow I-5 north toward Portland. Remain in one of the two left lanes and follow signs to City Center/Beaverton via I-405N (Exit 299B). Follow I-405N to NW Everett St. (Exit 2B). At top of offramp, get in rightmost lane and turn right onto NW Everett St. Turn right onto NW 11th Ave. The Gerding Theater is one block South at NW Davis on your left.
Highway 26 from the West (Sunset)
Take 26 to I-405N/St. Helens/Seattle (left lane). Exit right at NW Everett St. exit (Exit 2B). At top of offramp, get in rightmost lane and turn right onto NW Everett St. Turn right onto NW 11th Ave. The Gerding Theater is one block South at NW Davis on your left.
Highway 26 from the East ([Ross Island Bridge) or Highway 99 East (McLoughlin Blvd.)
Cross the Ross Island Bridge in center lane, then veer right following signs to City Center. Veer left onto SW Arthur St. Follow SW Arthur St. through SW Caruthers St. and SW 5th Avenue. Following signs toward the Zoo, veering right over the I-405 overpass (keep in the left lane) and take onramp to I-405N/Hwy 26. Follow I-405N and exit right at NW Everett St. (Exit 2B). At top of offramp, get in rightmost lane and turn right onto NW Everett St. Turn right onto NW 11th Ave. The Gerding Theater is one block South at NW Davis on your left.
Parking
While the cost of parking varies, on-street parking is free after 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and free on Sunday.
The largest lot in Portland is within a block of the Gerding Theater. It’s a well-lit, security-patrolled underground garage that houses 1,300 parking spaces and is the size of two city blocks. There are two entrances to this lot on NW 12th and on NW 13th Avenues, and elevators take you into the M Financial Building lobby directly across from the Armory on NW 11th Avenue or into Whole Foods on the corner of Couch and NW 12th.
Transit Directions
So, you want to avoid the hassle of driving and parking downtown? We encourage you to take advantage of Portland’s award-winning mass transit system. The Armory is also conveniently located directly on the street car line. The entrance to the theater is on NW Eleventh Avenue and the streetcar run downs 10th Avenue to 23rd and up 11th Avenue to Portland State University.

The Gerding Theater is located in the heart of the Pearl District on NW 11th Ave and Davis St. just a short walk from most bus lines.
• By MAX
The Tri-Met MAX line travels downtown from as far east as Gresham, as far west as Hillsboro and as far north as the Expo Center. From the eastbound train, get off at the 9th Ave./Library stop. From the westbound train, get off at the 10th Ave./SW Morrison Street stop. Walk to 10th Ave. and turn right, follow 10th Ave. to Davis (approx. 6 blocks) and turn right to corner of 11th Ave. OR Walk to corner of 10th and Yamhill and board the Portland Streetcar, get off at Couch St. stop and walk to corner of 11th Ave and Davis St.
• By Streetcar
The Portland Streetcar runs on 10th Avenue (to NW 23rd) and on 11th Avenue (to Portland State University) and stops on the corner of NW Couch Street respectively. The entrance to the Gerding Theater is on the corner of NW 11th and Davis (one block north of Couch).
