What’s It About?
How could a bunch of rough and tumble gangsters end up singing about “the boat to heaven” in a Times Square mission? Anything’s possible when love is on the line, and never more so than in Guys & Dolls, one of the greatest American musicals of all time. Based on Damon Runyon’s gritty tales of the 1930s NYC underworld, bursting with colorful characters, and with a score that features iconic hits like “Luck Be a Lady” and “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” Guys & Dolls promises to light up the night.

Hi I am planning a wedding for next summer. It will be for about 200 people, and my budget is $6600 for ceremony/reception. Can you work within my budget? if so, can you please send me prices. Thank you

Good question! The show is running approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes including intermission.

We took our grandaughter who just turned 14 and wondered if she would enjoy the show as it has been around for some time. She loved it - so I am sure this could cross age lines and appeal to almost anyone.
Great production. The voices were right on, the characters were well chosen. All in all, a great afternoon.

“It was a wonderful production, as always, and good escapist fun. I like the fact that the “tough guys” in the show were not ashamed to admit they’d fallen in love.

I could fully relate to the missionary, Sarah, when she goes off on a whirlwind evening with the gambler, Sky, to Havana. She unknowingly tastes her first alcohol (disguised in a milkshake with a “tropical” flavor called “Bacardi”), and it loosens her up considerably. It reminded me of myself, after my first year at PLU in an all-girls dorm, hanging out with the fundamentalist Christians, eshewing any alcohol and being horrified by the fact that my roommate’s boyfriend wanted to smoke pot in my room.”

I really enjoyed the Saturday matinee performance (10/4). I have season tickets with friends & love the last 3 years opening musicals. Way to kick off the start of fabulous theater. I’m looking forward to all the plays this season.

I do think however your questionnaire about the songs in Guys & Dolls is missing the chance for us to vote for the awesome rendition of “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” that the cast sang.

I loved the show, strong cast, good dancing, lighting, singing. ‘Sit Down you’re Rockin’ the Boat’ was just great.

My quibble- what’s with the amplification and the microphones? These folks can sing- does everything on earth need to be amplified? The earpiece/microphones were disruption to the suspension of disbelief. Are the acoustics poor in the new theater, so that amplification is required?

I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for such a wonderful production of Guys and Dolls. I remember my dad singing, “I got the horse right here, his name is Paul Revere” to me when I was a little kid and I have watched the movie with my mom a thousand times, so seeing this was special. And my boyfriend, (who hates musicals, yeah right) sings “Luck be a Lady” every time we go to Vegas (we never get married…ah-choo!) I didn’t realize how much “influence” Guys and Dolls had in my life!!

It was also a special night because of what has been going on with the economy. I needed to not think about all that for a few hours and what a few hours it was, I can honestly say I smiled the entire time.

I will spread the word and let everyone know to go to see Guys and Dolls. I look forward to the rest of the season.

PS. My boyfriend LOVED it…but still doesnt like musicals…..

The performance we saw on Saturday was superb!
The characters were perfectly cast, the music and
dancing could not have been better, and the sets and costuming were fantastic!
This is the best performance I’ve seen!

Just moved to the north shore - LOVED the theater and the show! This production was as professional and entertaining as anything we have seen. Nicely-Nicely stole the show with “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat”. Bring this cast back again!!!
