When Romeo and Juliet look into each other's eyes for the first time, the performers playing Romeo and Juliet will be looking into each other's eyes for the first time. Anonymous Theatre is unlike any other evening at the theatre. Join us for this extraordinary night as actors and audience alike experience the story together for the first time.

Anonymous Theatre Company has been producing heart-stopping theatrical events since 2002, including sold out evenings at PCS. Auditions are held... in secret. The play is cast... in secret. Cast members rehearse the show individually and ... secretly. They do not learn the identity of the other cast members. On the night of the performance, the actors arrive at the theatre as though they are members of the audience. They take their seats. They read their programs. They chat with their neighbors. The house lights dim and the play begins ... with each actor delivering their first line from their seat. The audience gets to see the story happen as if it is happening for the first time - because it actually is happening for the first time.

I mean, you know this, but… A boy and girl meet by chance and fall instantly in love, but their families are bitter enemies. To be together, the lovers must be prepared to endure everything - from some pretty wild machinations to the relentlessly unhelpful antics of their friends and family. Shakespeare’s often hilarious tragedy reminds us that emotions can be powerful, family can be preposterous, and miscommunication can be deadly.

"This was the best night of theater I have ever experienced. The theater was packed, the audience electrified, the performers phenomenal, the production perfect. It was simply astonishing. Thank you for creating such an innovative, high stakes format for theater. You were able to bring the audience and performers together in a true experience of performance art." - Barbara Kohnen Adriance, Anonymous Audience Member

"What was so amazing was the fact that we got together for one purpose, for one night, without rehearsal, and made an effort to bring the best out in all of us. It was an experience that money could not buy. It seemed to be the proof of the goodness of humanity. Thank you again for creating such a magical production. It was one of my most special moments as an artist. - Michinobu Iimori, Anonymous Orchestra Member

"The sold-out crowd in the mainstage auditorium at The Armory clapped and roared and hollered, cheering loudly every time an actor rose from among the audience, shouted out a line of dialogue, and hustled up to the stage to play ball with the rest of the cast. It was edge-of-the-seat stuff, a little like watching game seven of the NBA championships with the outcome still on the line." - Oregon ArtsWatch review of Anonymous Theatre Company's Urinetown
