Perspectives series for 9 Parts of Desire featuring Israa Hasani and Dr. Taghrid Khuri
Please join us for a series of 30-minute post-show discussions following select Sunday matinee performances of 9 Parts of Desire. This panel will feature Israa Hasani, cultural consultant and moderator, in conversation with Dr. Taghrid Khuri, International Development and Gender Consultant.
Hear and share personal reactions and thoughts inspired by the play, filtered through the perspectives of social justice activists, scholars, social workers, and artists. Speakers will have read the play, attended the production and will be ready to share their thoughts on how the play connects directly to our community.
Israa Al-Hasani, QMHA is a counselor in Portland, OR. She specializes in counseling. She is also the Cultural Consultant for 9 Parts of Desire and an experienced moderator.
Dr. Taghrid Khuri has a PhD in Urban Studies from Portland State University and teaches International & Women Studies at PSU.
She has more than 30 years of multi-disciplinary experience in human development, gender issues and women’s empowerment. She has worked with an array of private and public institutions around the world but mostly in the Middle East and North Africa. She volunteers with the Human Rights Advisory Commission of the City or Beaverton and is a Board member of AACCO, the Arab-American Cultural Center of Oregon.
