August First Thursday with VNPRT and Friends
Celebrate August First Thursday as Portland-based DJ and musical curator VNPRT sets the tone with a DJ set accompanied by live music featuring Cary Miga, Noah Simpson, Brown Charlie and Shook Black with special guest appearances by Rasheed Jamal, Fountaine, Danielle Barker, Soopah Eype and more!
There will also be an art exhibit from Portland-based photographer Tom Lupton on display during the show in the PG&E Gallery level.

Tom Lupton is a Filipino/American photographic artist who has called Portland home for about half his life. Tom is known more widely for his fashion editorial work, which has been featured in numerous fashion magazines, and garnered him a nomination for fashion photographer of the year. His love for theatrical, emotion-filled subjects also finds its way into everything he does - music videos, fashion editorials and shows, portraits, and album covers.

From Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour (creator of the Off-Broadway smash hit White Rabbit, Red Rabbit) comes an audacious new theatrical experiment, presented in collaboration with Boom Arts. Each night, a new, unrehearsed local performer joins the playwright on stage, while the script waits, unseen, in a sealed box... Touchingly autobiographical yet powerfully universal, NASSIM is a striking theatrical demonstration of how language can both divide and unite us.
Art Exhibit: Garam Garam Chai by Yusra Siddiqui
Portland Center Stage will host Garam Garam Chai, an art exhibit by Portland-based multidisciplinary artist Yusra Siddiqui, featuring a series of hand-sewn teabag printmaking pieces that serve as a contemplation of the communal tea times shared between Desi and British culture.
