Whether you're a seasoned actor or just embarking on your theatrical journey, this class offers an approach to understanding, interpreting, and performing Shakespeare's works. By the end of this six-week course, participants will confidently develop a performance-ready monologue.
Andy is an actor, improviser, and teaching artist from Kansas City, MO. He earned his BFA from Avila University and his MFA from Purdue University. Since then he has performed at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, the Coterie Theatre, the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, the Kansas City Black Rep, and Spinning Tree Theatre. As an improviser he has traveled to perform in Chicago, Detroit, San Diego, Indianapolis, Houston, and Baltimore with his comedy duo Snooze Button. While teaching, Andy focuses on creating a safe environment where students are able to push themselves creatively and discover their own unique voice.

Write Like You! Finding Your Voice with Julia Izumi JAW Community Artist Lab
One of the biggest lifelong hurdles as a writer is to find your voice--and learn to love it! In this workshop, through several writing and performance exercises we'll explore all the different ways to encourage your creativity and imagination and let your own authentic voice soar, even through characters and stories that are totally, 100% fictional.
JAW: Pre-show Music with Kimo Camat
Portland based performer Kimo Camat will be performing a pre-show set to the afternoon’s play filled with songs ranging from Funk, Neo Soul, and a dash of Musical Theatre. Joined by Mak Kastelic on keys and Juliet Terrill on bass, Kimo wants you to come hang for an afternoon of cool drinks and soft tunes downtown in the Pearl.
JAW Play Reading: Good Person (A One-Woman Bouffon Show) By Brett Robinson
Patrica! (A clown, a monster, and definitively good person) drags you down into her own hole of her own making to ask why we are good. Part seminar and part existential crisis. It’s buffoon, it’s funny, it’s dread. This one person show crafted in drag bars and cabaret spaces invites you to question what makes a person good, and if you happen to be one of those so-called "Good People."

Enjoy the cool, summertime vibes at JAW with a performance by Portland-based multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer MREENS as she shares her unique versions of cover songs, blended with original songs for the JAW weekend crowds.
