Join us as we launch the 2023 First Thursday series featuring Wren the Band. Playing an amalgamation of Motown, jazz, R&B, and soul with a modern spin, listen to vocalist Chrissy Wood and guitarist Andy Wilhelm as they paint stories with unique melodies and clever lyrics.

While you're vibing to the sweet melodies head down to our Ellyn Bye Studio to view the Photography Exhibit: Pas de trois by Jingzi Zhao. The images celebrate motivation, artistry, and creative alchemy created over the last three years.

This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. For guests in attendance, there will be complimentary beer from Deschutes Brewery while supplies last!

Meet Wren the Band

Wren the Band is a Soul-Folk Band from Portland, Oregon. The core members are Chrissy Wood on vocals and Andy Wilhelm on Guitar, who have worked together since 2018.

The music will make you want to close your eyes and drop into the present moment. Some songs will make you dance, and some might make you cry. Their show is perfect for a picnic in the park, an evening at a winery, or a spicy night in a jazz club basement.

Their debut EP, “Close Your Eyes and See” was released at the beginning of 2022. They have over a dozen originals in our rotation, with new singles in the recording process.

They usually perform as a three-piece with Dominic Kukla on percussion. Occasionally, they will pull from a pool of musicians for larger shows to add some part/ combination of bass, drums, piano, trumpet, saxophone, and more.

Portland Center Stage is committed to identifying & interrupting instances of racism & all forms of oppression, through the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, & accessibility (IDEA).
